Thanks for the video. It’s quite depressing though, when the Germans let you down for quality, just leaves the Japs. Porsche got to interested in the bottom line. Chasing the coin.
thank you for sharing this information…!!
The plastic cage may be causing a centripetal force which can force out the grease. Looking at it now, it looks like the grease would exit through the sides and not the plastic rings used to seal the bearings.
It was the same way for Volkswagen for all of their aircooled engines and trans were normally replaced instead of rebuilt. Hence, all the god cores we’ve enjoyed for the last 30 years, but that’s drying up fast. Better get your core stock in order,,, make ‘em last,,,,,
We are seeing more and more of the rebuild days of ALL dealerships flying away for the JUST REPLACE IT, but what is crazy is the replacement has the same drama, yep sucks for Porsche owners and keeps us on our toes.
Thanks!
Shame, i thought porsche would have the best transmissions, obviously not, i’m really supprised why they decided to seal them, probably not enough failling so it’s an easy way to make extra revenue out of the porsche drivers who drive fast / hense wear the bearings out quicker, in normal oiled bearings the wear amount isnt an issue in fast or slow driving, but using sealed bearing the lifespan is down to the grease and once thats gone it’s due for a rebuild.
Motormeister you guys awesome, I love all this new and Improved work you guys are doing. I plan on getting a Boxster in the future again, the last one I had I traded in for my Audi A4. Keep up the good work. Please post all the Improvements you guys are making for the Boxster that is the Porsche I am most interested in. Good job and great videos. -Z.
Quality has gone downhill in the watercooled era. Cheap parts on a Porsche… what are they smoking these days in Stuttgart?
