cleaning up some gears as a thick burr has developed at the edges of the gear teeth over time, hoping that will gert rid of the whining noise coming from the transmission that gets higher as rpm goes…Looking at buying synchronizers but cannot decide on where from, yet.
@buckz94z28 I just had a new trans mission put in my 93 C1500 and it is bad with the same problems you just stated. It is under warranty and in the shop now to be replaced again. I hope they are putting in the NV3500 instead of the POS HM290 or 5LM60. My insurance company (GEICO) wouldn’t go for a Jasper and opted for a cheaper model. Where is the savings when the truck is in the shop twice in one month?
These guys scare me because you need a special stand for this trans.
@buckz94z28 Bent/broken shift fork most likely.
no grinding just wont allow the shifter to go over far enough even to select reverse or 5th all other gears shift fine
@buckz94z28 Open it up and check stuff. So far I’ve learned that grinding happens mostly when the shift forks do not engage the gears far enough or when the synchronizers for those same gears are worn out. I have a transmission that will not shift to 2nd gear because the shift fork is bent from abuse/racing. All it does is grind.
Hi I have a nv 3500 trans the shift bias wont allow me to select reverse or 5 th gear any advise would be helpful the shift bias seems to be hitting the main cluster gear
