Some advice on how to gear shift or gear change on your motorcycle without using the clutch. Always to remember to practise and never force your gear lever, if it doesn’t go easily, you’re doing it wrong and could damage your gear selector fork. I accept no responsibility if you mis-understand me and break your bike….so there! ![]()
Hey deb n Quinn how’s the hpe650. My GS is getting the same package as y’all. Bout a week away. I bet y’all still watch this video all the time. I would. Actually I do. Probably about 15-20 times at least. I can’t wait to get my baby back. Later d&b. Thx hennessey.
at 1:15 just punch it
650hp for a 70,000 car is good, specially this one’s brand new.
buy the parts and do it yourself. that way you’ll learn on how to really fix your own car and not letting a mechanic do it for you.
Shitt is slow
I can only dream of doing this to my Grand Sport… ahhhh
love it lol i love my camaros i love my chevy(camaros are sexy thou) just lvoe the SOUND of it its crazy
Almost sounds like a manual when it shifts when your on it.
The sound is so amazing
Thank you John! You are the bomb! And that’s the truth! We just got in from FL and were so thrilled to see the video… OMG! I think Quinn & I played it over ten times in one sitting! Thank you for your time, effort, energy, etc etc… you & Tico are the best!!!! You, being the owner, doing this makes us feel very special… thanks a bunch! We know we have picked the best to tweak our “baby”!
anyone think hennessey will have something planned for the upcoming corvette 427 convertable its based off the gran sport with the zo6 7.0l 427 engine and its obviously a convertable! that would be good with a good 650 package
are these SCs fully in-house proprietary Hennessy developments and makes, or do you utilize existing hardware that you fine tune and equip your upgrade packages with? a friend of mine owns a ’05 Vette C6 LS2 and he’s been thinking about a bolt-on SC to add, i told him about the edelbrock E-Force, that’s why i ask, i guess Hennessy has some sweet options as well as i can see.
greetings from germany.
Any plans to do a Dodge Challenger
Can I work for you sir? Maybe even for free
sounds awesome i take for in black please lol
I saw this car at Coffee and Cars!
Yes I know! But I know just by looking at I wouldn’t know it was that fast!! Isn’t that a sleeper? (not trying to by an ass) haha
I just wanna see the drag between this and a ZR1!!
another masterpiece! I can’t wait to write you a check someday!
Would not really call a corvette a sleeper by any means.
Is this faster than a zr1?
The ultimate sleeper right there!!
ahh..no, it use’s a single-clutch 7-speed semi-automatic built by Graziano Trasmissioni
Lamborghini uses a traditional torque converter auto for the aventador
It’s a automatic tranny, the units in Lambo’s and Ferrari’s are dual clutch simi-autos…big difference.
It’s pretty slow to shift gears. I understand it’s not lambo, ferrari, etc. Just shocked it switches that much slower.

I see, I see. So it’s not like in a car where using the clutch is essential for each gear? Would it do damage to the bike?
I just this on my aprilia mx 125… But only when the roads are good and im riding for fun. i do the exact same as you but i have also done it at really low RPMs when rolling in traffic, Not for any reason just me being lazy and having frozen fingers from leather gloves that freeze your fingers.
Totally agree, why not use the clutch when riding normally, it’s also more forgiving.
right. but quickshift is usually used on a race track, or when you want to get going quick. but if youre just riding around, why not use the clutch, its there for a reason.
Oh so you only need to use the clutch to engage first gear? you dont need to use one for the other gears?
you need a clutch for first gear.
if you can change without the clutch what’s the point in having it there? bike novice here btw
Tried this today and it works really well! Don’t think ill do it all the time, just when i want to accelerate fast. Cheers for the tips!
does it works with rapid acceleration ? i mean like quick start off the traffic lights.
‘blipping’ the throttle on the downshift just helps match the engine speed to the higher revs it’ll be doing when the release the clutch. It’s a lot smoother and there’s much less risk of under rotating the rear wheel (if you don’t have a slipper clutch) and possibly locking up. Plus it sounds sweet when it’s done right. I was always taught to go down each gear one at a time too, to help prevent the risk of locking the rear wheel, which WILL happen if you go down to many at once
I totally close it, althought VERY briefly. The gear lever needs to be moved the very instant the throttle is completely closed. If it’s closed for a 10th of a second too long, it loads the gears up and you’ll struggle to shift.
so when changing you don’t cut the throttle off fully just kinda blip it off a little?
I don’t think any bikes have synch. They’re all sequential. Each gearbox behaves differently so experimentation is needed.
I have a 1995 Honda Steed and it will not do this ! is it me or do some bikes just not have the synchromesh? the lever seems locked in position untillI dip the clutch! Great vids by the way.
Think when I go for my CBT I have found the place to do it.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
What does blipping the throttle do when your downshifting? Im riding a 125 on a cbt at the moment and ive never done it so far, but im looking to take my test soon, so i guess any knowledge is good knowledge!
No worries. I love my gloves. I’ve done a review of them on my channel. Have a look.
your gloves are heated? and if they are your satisfied with them? sorry for my bad english…
A very good point. Thank you.
I don’t recall if you mentioned it or not in this video, but one thing that I see a lot of new riders doing when attempting to clutchless upshift is rolling off the throttle too slowly and with far too much rotation. Ideally, it’s just a tiny, very quick flick so that you momentarily unload the transmission and give the gear lever a chance to slide into gear; that’s it. If you’re noticing a lot of jerkiness when clutchless shifting, it’s probably due to what I mentioned. Fast, short rotation.
I think you’ll find that clutchless upshifts are the easiest to execute smoothly when your engine is nearing, at, or a little past the peak in your engine’s powerband. However, you can clutchless shift at any point. As long as you’re not getting any clunking, noise, or undue resistance, you’ll not be doing any damage to your transmission.
In reality, an upshift using the clutch shouldn’t have any impact on your ability to maneuver the motorcycle to the right or to the left unless you are doing something goofy with the controls. Now, the idea of “smoother” changes is somewhat subjective. You can “smoothly” shift up with the clutch as well as without. It’s largely a matter of technique. The only “objective” advantage to a clutchless up-shift is that of rapidity, especially when you’re riding at a good clip.
I do that route every monday morning near queens med.
Nice vid.
